After the Easter bank holiday, introduction to the DeltaV system and software documentation was next up.
Learning about the systems hierarchy, classifications, and structure (albeit limited to a need to know basis for completing the task at hand) is quite interesting as software development is one of my main interests and focuses in college.
Working on excel and the DeltaV system I assisted in creating what this referred to as a bulk edit document. This is a document comprising of all commands within the state controls. Within each command is its various parameters and the corresponding variable declarations. These are manually added to a list within the DeltaV system and is exported to a text file this can be then very easily be copied and pasted over to Excel where further formatting as per the clients desire is implemented.
Although this is only a small aspect of the documentation seeing other and differing processes I personally find very interesting. I feel I will carry over a lot of the companies practices into my future college work as it will help refine my documenting and reporting skills.
